John Unterecker, 1923-1989, poet, author and professor, Hurwitz’s film In Search of Hart Crane, 1966, follows his investigation into Crane’s life. Unterecker taught at CUNY, Columbia, and University of Hawaii. His books include Stone:Poems, A Readers Guide to W.B. Yates, Voyager: The Life of Hart Crane.

Saul Levitt, 1911-1977, Writer of commentary, Strange Victory, 1948. An author of plays, novels and short stories, Levitt wrote the Broadway hit play The Andersonville Trial, 1959, winning an Emmy when it was adapted for television in 1970.
